Phillip Ruddock is the Liberal Candidate for Berowra.
Philip has served as the Member for Berowra since 1993, previously representing the electorates of Dundas (1977-93) and Parramatta (1973-77). Philip is currently the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives.
A long-serving member of the Liberal Party, Philip was elected President of the NSW Young Liberals from 1971 to 1972 and was as a member of the Liberal Party’s State Executive. From 1973-74 he served as the Federal Young Liberal President.
Graduating with degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Sydney, Philip practised law before entering politics. Philip is married to Heather with two daughters Kirsty and Caitlin. Both of them pursue active careers of note.
Philip was a member of the Opposition Shadow Ministry from 1983 to 1985 and again from 1989 until 1996.
Philip served continuously in the Ministry throughout the eleven and a half years of the Howard Government. In 1996, Philip was appointed Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs and also served in a number of other portfolios. In 2003, Philip became the nation’s first law officer, serving as Attorney General until the Coalition’s term in office ended in November 2007.
Drawing on his experience, judgement and wise counsel, Philip was recently appointed Shadow Cabinet Secretary.
